An award-winning scheme

Replicating a traditional apprenticeship in cabinet making, our scheme is run in conjunction with West Berkshire Training Consortium and City of Oxford College. We  took on our first apprentice in 1987 and since then over 50 apprentices from the local community have qualified in cabinet making and wood machining.

We have won Employer of the Year in the Small Business Category on a local and national level for the excellence of our apprenticeship scheme. Our apprentices learn their skills and techniques on the job and with day release at Cherwell College in Oxford for one day a week.  More than half of the apprentices are still with the company and with further training and mentoring have gone on to senior positions including workshop and production management.

We usually offer two placements each year subject to students carrying out a month's trial in our workshop.  For more details download our brochure here or contact  Steve Cooper on 01488 658184 or by e-mail apprenticeships@benchmarkfurniture.com
