Benchmark was established over 25 years ago by Terence Conran and Sean Sutcliffe in a stable on the disused farm in the grounds of Terence’s country home. With just three employees, Benchmark started making prototypes and small batches of furniture for leading retailers. It has expanded steadily over the years and Benchmark is now one of the most technologically advanced workshops in the UK, employs a team of 40 craftsmen and has a full service design studio.

Benchmark works with architects and interior designers on a diverse range of commissions for offices, public institutions, hotels, bars and restaurants as well as making furniture for its own domestic furniture range which is sold directly to customers from the workshop and showroom in Kintbury, West Berkshire.

Benchmark was the first furniture maker to win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development and has FSC and PEFC certification.
