Jonathan Tibbs

Jonathan trained as an artist and cabinetmaker before setting up in business producing elegant furniture and lighting for the bespoke and batch production markets. His key interests in craftsmanship, sustainable materials and uncomplicated design are expressed through graceful products that fit seamlessly into contemporary and classic spaces alike.

Steuart Padwick

Since training as a designer and cabinetmaker, Steuart has made furniture and other products for one off commissions as well as mass production. He is the founder of Designbar.com an information and advisory website for the design industry.

Terence Conran

Terence Conran is one of the world’s best known designers, restaurateurs and retailers. He is Chairman of Conran Holdings, the parent company of The Conran Shop and his design and architecture practice Conran & Partners.

Partridge & Walmsley

Jim Partridge and Liz Walmsley have collaborated on a variety of projects outdoors and in public spaces. Their work is in several collections including the V&A in London and Manchester Art Gallery.

Russell Pinch

Russell trained as a furniture and product designer. He is the founder of PINCH, a furniture, product and interior design company set up in 2004. He previously worked for the Conran group where he launched a homeware collection and co-founded The Nest, a multi-disciplinary brand design agency.

Thomas Heatherwick

Thomas Heatherwick is recognised for his work in architecture, sculpture, product design and exhibition design. Recent projects include B of the Bang, the UK’s tallest sculpture, the Rolling Bridge at Paddington Basin and the East Beach Café in Littlehampton.

Sean Sutcliffe

Sean trained as a designer and furniture maker before joining Terence Conran in 1984 and starting the small studio workshop from which Benchmark has grown. Over twenty years, he has built up a respected team of craftsmen as well as one of Britain’s most technologically advanced furniture workshops.

Kay + Stemmer

The designs of Sarah Kay and Andrea Stemmer evoke an understated luxury and simple, feminine elegance. Both trained cabinet makers, they have undertaken commissions for a number of retailers and designed furniture for a leading luxury hotel.

After Hours

The young and creative in-house design team, who as well as designing much of our contract work have designed pieces for Benchmark’s domestic furniture range. This has provided an opportunity to nurture talented new designers and undergraduate furniture designers on placement with us.

Simen Aarseth

Simen Aarseth

Simen Aarseth works as a product designer and interior architect in Oslo. After completion of his masters degree in 2010, he has set up his own studio and is collaborating with other designers as well as recognized architecture companies and local makers.

Jens Risom

Jens Risom

Jens Risom was born in Copenhagen in 1916. From 1935 to 1938 he attended the School for Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen where he trained under the furniture maker Kaare Klint and his fellow students included Hans Wegner. In 1939, Risom emigrated from Denmark to the USA, where in 1941 he designed the first range of furniture manufactured by Hans Knoll. He established Jens Risom Design Inc in 1946 which grew to become the third largest furniture company in America.

Wales & Wales

Wales & Wales are a highly respected husband and wife team. They have built their reputations with outstanding and innovative furniture designs for private and corporate clients. Their vision was to bring the high ideals realised in their interior furniture to the world of public space furniture.

Katie Walker

Katie Walker

Katie Walker is a graduate of London's Royal College of Art .where she developed her approach of combining fine art and sculpture with practical furniture design, the results of which have now become highly collectable. She won the 2006 Wood Awards and the 2007 Grand Designs 'Product of the Year' Award for her iconic Ribbon Rocking Chair.

Steven Owens

Steven Owens

Steven started his career as an engineering apprentice before going to University to study design. It was there he found a passion for furniture and joined Benchmark a few years after graduating. In his 10 years at Benchmark Steven has risen to Head of Design and MD of Benchmark Furniture.

Namon Gaston

Namon Gaston

Namon Gaston has been designing and making furniture from his Edinburgh based Studio since 2005. His award winning furniture has become synonymous with its high quality, honest design and rich understanding for the materials with which he works.
